2021 Early Hearing Detection & Intervention Conference
Abstract Submission for the 2021 EHDI Annual Conference is Now Closed.
In its 20th year, the EHDI Conference has built a strong reputation for bringing together a wide variety of attendees including those who: work in state Early Hearing Detection and Intervention programs; assist in EHDI efforts on the federal level; provide screening, diagnostic and early intervention support at the state/ local level to young children with hearing loss and their families; champion Medical Home activities within each state; are parents of children with hearing loss; or are deaf or hard-of-hearing adults who are helping to expand opportunities for young children with hearing loss. EHDI Conference participants will range from state and local programs to the federal level and from academics to families.
GOAL OF THE EHDI ANNUAL CONFERENCE
The goal of the annual EHDI Conference is to enhance the implementation of comprehensive state-based Early Hearing Detection and Intervention (EHDI) programs. After participating in the conference, participants will be better able to:
Identify and promote knowledge and awareness of successful strategies for implementing comprehensive state-based EHDI programs that include screening, audiologic diagnostic evaluation, early intervention, medical home, reporting, tracking, surveillance, loss to follow-up issues, data integration, and other related surveillance components.
Interpret and describe current research and research methods related to EHDI.
Examine cultural competence of providers and assess their ability to work with children who are deaf or hard of hearing, their families, and communities.
Discuss the importance of enhancing and creating new and ongoing working relationships among federal agencies, non-profit organizations, state health departments and educational agencies, advocacy groups, families, and professionals.
EHDI CONFERENCE PRINCIPLES OF PARTICIPATION
By registering for the Annual EHDI Conference, all participants agree to abide by the following Principles of Participation:
The right to participate in the EHDI Annual Conference is fundamental to ensuring open dialogue between all EHDI stakeholders. The Conference Organizers encourage respectful dialogue as a key element of participation among all conference participants. The EHDI Annual Conference opposes the disruption of any conference sessions or events that results in the inability for dialogue to take place.
The EHDI Annual Conference reserves the right to withdraw the name badge, and therefore deny access, to participants who do not adhere to these Principles of Participation.
Accessibility Guidelines
English and American Sign Language (ASL) are the languages for the conference.

Privacy of Conference Registrants
Personally identifiable information for registrants of the National EHDI Conference is never sold or shared with third-party entities or shared with or transferred to any entities outside of the USA except as noted below. Because networking with other conference registrants is a valuable benefit for many conference registrants, we provide names and contact information on a participant list to all registrants. All registrants are required to indicate when they register if they choose to be included on the participant list. The participant list contains names and contact information only for those who have specifically given their permission to be included.
Registrant information is primarily used to verify registration, collect conference fees, plan conference activities, collect evaluation data following the conference, and provide information about future conferences or similar events. At any time, people can opt-out of these follow-up contacts by notifying nchamhelpdesk@usu.edu. The primary organizer for the National EHDI Conference is the National Center for Hearing Assessment and Management (NCHAM) at Utah State University. Filming and photography
Presentations/Posters may be recorded, transcribed and or videotaped for the purpose of being used and distributed in various formats by the EHDI Planning Committee. Unless a presenter specifically objects in writing prior to the EHDI Conference, the EHDI Planning Committee has permission and is authorized to videotape, audiotape, photograph, record, edit or otherwise reproduce presentations/posters and to use in formats and purposes as stated. No other filming can be done during the EHDI Conference without written permission.
